Granite maintenance

Granite & Natural Stone maintenance

When it comes to the maintenance of natural stones like granite, marble or quartzite routine maintnance is important. Are your counter tops looking dull or leaving water spots? If so then that's a good indication your tops could use some love and Gulfcoast is here to help!

Restoration & Routine maintenance

The 3 main aspects of proper maintnance are buffing, sealing and waxing. The most important aspect of maintenance is sealing. This protects the surface from various forms of staining, like wine, cooking oil etc. However sealing alone will not give your granite or other natural stone the luster, shine and smoothness without buffing and waxing involved. The first step is machine buffing with cream or powder compounds followed by sealing and then as a final step wax is applied and buffed off to achieve the best visual results possible while also adding superior protection compared to the industry standard of sealing only.

Diffrent options for maintnance

Once you have a good buffing, sealing and waxing it is recommended to re-seal and wax every 1-2 years depending on the quality of sealer. This keeps your natural stone looking visually great and keeps surface protection at its best, this is a simple Affordable maintenance if kept up on. Another option would be a long lasting sealer like a 15 year or life sealer. These sealers are more expensive and much more of a process to properly apply, but allow minimal maintenance  with only re-waxing every so often to preserve the shine and luster
